Colored pencil is no more fragile than watercolor or oil, and it will be beautiful for years if proper care is taken to preserve the piece.
I recommend museum quality framing materials to protect from dust and harmful light rays. Never hang a piece where it will be exposed to direct sunlight or excess moisture. Inside walls are usually best.
